The Vienna Arts Society (VAS) brings together area artists to share interests, enrich their own experiences in art, and make creative contributions to the community. Members broaden their artistic horizons through workshops, demonstrations, lectures, and classes that are held at the VAS Art Center.
The Vienna Arts Society began as a volunteer membership organization in 1969. It was incorporated in October 1975 as a nonprofit organization under the IRS regulation 501(c)(3).
Our member artists exhibit work at several Galleries in Northern Virginia. All artwork at our exhibitions are original pieces, created by local artists, and available for purchase. VAS charges a 25% commission and requires members to sit as docents when art is displayed at the art center or one of our other regular venues. In addition to guiding visitors, docents are encouraged to work on their art as the Artist on Duty.
Our main gallery is the VAS Art Center, which displays original artwork that rotates regularly in themed shows. The Art Center also has a gift shop offering small handmade items, including jewelry, cards, textiles, ceramics, giclees, carvings, and sculptures.
We also also offer Classes & Workshops, community outreach programs, and a place for members of the community to gather.
All of our meetings occur at the Vienna Art Center, or as needed on Zoom. The Art Center is located at 243 Church Street NW, Suite 100 LL, in the Windover Professional Building, Vienna, VA 22180. Our regular hours are 12-4 Wednesday through Saturday. Please call beforehand to make sure we are open: (703) 319-3971.
The Vienna Arts Society (VAS) brings the arts to our community through a variety of community programs. We have held Art in the Park and Art Around the World programs at Wolf Trap, we have organized children's art activities at the Vienna Octoberfest, we have held a Parkinson's benefit at Sunrise, we have supported public art with our Take a Seat Vienna bench projects, we have a history of creating prize-winning floats for the Vienna Halloween parade, and we have provided art outreach to veterans at Fort Belvoir. Our member's artwork graces the community through our exhibits and gallery.
We also are proud to offer a The Jeff Gorell Memorial Scholarship to a talented local high school senior every year.
Artists, individuals, and community groups may rent the Art Center for meetings, shows, classes, exhibits, or special occasions.
Please call (703) 319-3971 for more information, or email artcenter@viennaartssociety.org
